Updated food additive provisions were among the standards adopted at the 36th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), held July 1-5, 2013. Codex, which is run jointly by the WHO and FAO, sets various guidelines to promote international food safety. Further information on the 36th Session can be found in the following USDA report.

This year's food additive revisions were proposed in the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA) Report, published after their meeting in March. The International Food Additive Database will be updated to reflect the new standards upon publication of the 2013 CAC Report, expected later this summer, and will be included in the BCI Food Additive News when this occurs.
