LiteFoods, Inc. will launch its Neusolite product which reduces fat in fried foods by as much as 60% at this year’s IFT Show in New Orleans. Neusolite is a patented two-stage pre-soak system that uses all-natural ingredients to keep the oil from fried foods in the fryer.

In controlled laboratory tests conducted at the University of Western Australia (UWA), Neusolite reduced fat in fried foods by as much as 60% versus a control group cut from the same potato and fried simultaneously in the same oil.

“People want to eat the foods they love,” says inventor Dr. Rajen Manicka. “We have a worldwide obesity epidemic with eating habits out of control. Our job is to make it healthier without sacrificing any of the flavor, taste and texture.”

The next step for Neusolite is to move from the laboratory to the real world. The applications for this product are too numerous to mention, but obvious target are fast food chains and their suppliers, foodservice, and hospital and institutional users who focus on healthy eating.

LiteFoods, Inc. will also introduce its ZeroVia and 80Less sweeteners at the upcoming IFT14 Show.

ZeroVia is a proprietary blend of stevia and sucrose that can be used as a sugar substitute in virtually any application except as a bulking agent. This zero calorie sweetener has no after-taste, and can be used in cooking. Just one teaspoon of ZeroVia replaces two teaspoons of sugar.

80Less is an all-natural blend of pure cane sugar and sucralose. 80Less delivers balanced taste and uniform sweetness throughout its crystals, and behaves like sugar in cooking, baking, and dissolving. Although it’s five times sweeter than sugar, 80Less delivers full sweet taste with 80 fewer calories.

“The problem of obesity is often tied directly to sweeteners,” says inventor Dr. Rajen Manicka. “With ZeroVia and 80Less, we’re offering two new options for replacing sugars in a healthy, balanced way. And they taste great!”

Already packaged for retail and foodservice, hospitals and institutional users who focus on healthy eating will embrace these sweeteners that help reduce dangerous blood sugar spikes.

LiteFoods, Inc. is a specialty food ingredient company with research & development facilities in Australia and Malaysia that concentrates on taking the guilt out of our ‘guilty pleasures’ in consuming comfort foods like fries, breads, sugars and salt.
