Tip Top FoodsTip Top Foodserviceervice, the specialist foodservice bakery division of George Weston Foods, has launched a new Burgen Gluten Free White Bread for the Australian foodservice industry.

The new gluten free bread is frozen from fresh specifically for the foodservice market, enabling foodservice outlets to keep sufficient product on hand to meet demand, while also minimising waste, according to Tip Top Foodservice.

“Of paramount importance to Australian foodservice outlets is that gluten free breads have outstanding taste and softness,” said Brian Esplin, National Business Manager for Tip Top Foodservice. “There has been a growth in value for gluten free products in Australia of 34.5 per cent since 2009 and it is vital that local foodservice outlets are able to cater to this market with a product that is packed full of flavour,” he said.

A growing number of Australians are consuming gluten free products and with the existing range of Burgen ‘health breads’ being popular among customers, Tip Top Foodservice said it expected the new frozen Burgen Gluten Free Bread to be in high demand in the local cafe and foodservice sector.

“We had feedback from the industry that existing products on the market did not match the taste requirements of consumers and took up the challenge to provide an offering that satisfied the demand for gluten free products while not compromising on flavour,” Mr Esplin said. “Not just for the gluten intolerant, the new product allows foodservice outlets to expand their gluten free offering with bread that is light-tasting, nutritious and, most importantly, delicious,” he said.

Tip Top Foodservice is the specialist foodservice bakery division of George Weston Foods, which is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest food manufacturers. George Weston Foods employs around 6,500 employees across 60 sites and its portfolio includes Don, KR Castlemaine, Weston Milling and Jasol. The Tip Top Foodservice bakery division portfolio includes Tip Top, Abbott’s Village Bakery, Burgen, Golden, Speedibake, Australian Garlic Bread, Bazaar and Top Taste.

The Burgen Gluten Free bread will be distributed frozen to foodservice outlets from 1 April 2014. Burgen Gluten Free White is vacuum packed and will be available nationally via foodservice distributors, supplied in cartons of 6 with four months frozen shelf life.
