Australian pizza restaurant Company Domino’s Pizza Enterprises (Domino’s) has launched a $50 Wagyu beef pizza, the Wagyu Duet.

Domino’s says the new produce demonstrates its strategy of offering a “premium range with restaurant-quality” ingredients, the $50 pizza is actually two pizzas in a specially designed box. The two pizzas are Wagyu 3 Ways and Wagyu and Truffle Hollandaise.

“It’s all about the marrying of flavours and creating harmony with the ingredients,” said Don Meij, Domino’s Group CEO.

The Wagyu 3 ways is stacked with three types of premium Wagyu (rib, bresoala and sausage) as well as smokey rasher bacon, 100 per cent ground beef and a “zesty” tomato capsicum. The Wagyu and Truffle Hollandaise combines truffle hollandaise, Wagyu rib fillet and camembert cheese.

“It really is our most indulgent pizza,” Mr Meij said.

Purchased from butchers and restaurants at an average of $100 per kilogram, Domino’s said consumers would find it “challenging to find the same amount of quality wagyu for this value”.

“It’s rare to get the same quantity of quality wagyu grade of six plus marble score from any leading restaurant for the same price. In most cases you’ll pay over $50 for a restaurant quality cut of wagyu – and that’s just for the steak alone,” Mr Meij said.

Domino’s said the Wagyu Duet “can feed over four people at $14 per head”.

The Wagyu Duet pizza box is available for a limited time only.

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises was Australia’s first publicly-listed pizza company and is the master franchisor for the Domino’s Pizza brand in Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Japan. Across these six markets, DPE and its franchisees operate over 1,250 stores.
