Sugar Creek Packing has five facilities in Ohio and Kansas, according to the company’s website. The company provides an assortment of raw and fully-cooked products for domestic and international distribution. It was founded in 1966 at Washington Court House, Ohio and was originally a raw bacon manufacturer. It has grown from 250 employees to 1,500, and has two plants in Dayton Ohio, one plant in Cincinnati, Ohio; one plant in Frontenac, Kan. and corporate offices in Washington Court House, Ohio.
In 2007, Really Cool Foods built a food processing facility, with promises of a $100 million investment in the community and jobs for 1,000 workers. But the company had problems, and abruptly closed its doors in November 2011, according to news reports. A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 21 in bankruptcy court to confirm the sale and give creditors a chance to object to the sale, according to news reports.
