American restaurant chain Burger 21 has inked a franchise agreement to launch new restaurants in Arizona, in a move to expand to brand’s network across the region.

The first store, under the deal, will be opened in Chandler, Arizona, in 2014 by multi-unit Subway franchisee Lenhauser.

The second store will be opened in the Phoenix market over the next several years.

This latest deal will expand the brand's footprint to a total of nine states.

Burger 21 president Mark Johnston said, "This is a significant achievement in our company's history as Burger 21 expands westward for the first time."

Since the launch of its aggressive growth plan in fall 2011, the company has inked franchise agreements with 12 different entities in nine states to develop a total of 22 franchised units in cities across the US.
