Earlier in autumn 2012, Czech authorities associated alcoholic drinks with increased deaths and injuries in the country, which was reported highest in last 30 years.

The officials also reported that the low-cost alcoholic drinks like Czech vodka, rum and fruit spirits contained methanol, a poisonous form of alcohol, which could kill or make a person blind. This forced Armenia to impose ban on imports of liquors from the Czech Republic, as was done by Russia, reported ARKA News Agency.

However, the ban was relaxed on 6 March 2013 by a decree of the Food Safety Service chief Abram Bakhchagulyan.
