Agricoper, a company from Noicattaro with over 150 hectares of table grapes, has been interested in Karmen field scales from the start, so much so that it has purchased over 160 of them in less than two years.

Francesco Boccuzzi, head of product handling and harvesting, provided FreshPlaza with feedback on this innovative tool.

"The grapes season is gradually restarting in Apulia. Over the years, we tried different scales, but I must say Karmen is the ideal choice in terms of reliability, practicality, light weight, battery duration and cost. We initially used scales with large batteries, but they were rather heavy for our collaborators. We then purchased compatible batteries that were lighter, but which needed to be recharged every 3-4 days. These operations were time consuming, as we needed to load the scales into a vehicle, take them to a warehouse, charge them and take them back the next day."

"To solve this problem, we contacted Rescina Service, the company that developed Karmen. We purchased the first 40 pieces in 2019 and now own over 160. Karmen noticeably reduced the effort of operators and increased their productivity. What is more, the battery needed replacing not before 100 working days."

"In addition, the tool reports any instability due to slopes, so as to guarantee precise weight. The supports and the fact that the depth can be adjusted make packaging easier. We package directly in the fields using various containers (4.5, 5, 7 and 9 kg)."
