RiceBran Technologies and Royal DSM have announced that they have completed the Joint Research and Development Agreement (JRDA), which targeted rice bran derived protein.

The JRDA, which was announced in November 2011, was aimed at developing a new technology which can be used to produce first generation protein products from rice bran.

Following the completion of the JRDA, each party holds the right to further develop and commercialize the resulting first generation technology for its own benefit.

RiceBran Technologies is involved in the production and marketing of value added products derived from rice bran. The company has proprietary and patented intellectual property that allows the conversion of rice bran into a number of human food ingredient and animal nutrition products.

Royal DSM is a life sciences and materials sciences firm based in the Netherlands. The company offers solutions to various markets including food and dietary supplements, personal care, feed, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and bio-based materials, among others.
