On July 25, 2013, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published Scientific Opinion on Flavouring Group Evaluation 216, Revision 1 (FGE.216Rev1) and Scientific Opinion on Flavouring Group Evaluation 217, Revision 1 (FGE.217Rev1). These reports re-evaluate the safety of certain flavoring substances used in food.

The European Union’s food additive use regulations are included in the International Food Additive Database, though flavorings do not fall within the scope of the database.
