Positive volumes for Italian imports and exports
According to the latest data processed by FruitImprese, imports and exports in the first ten months…According to the latest data processed by FruitImprese, imports and exports in the first ten months of 2013 are in line with the past few months: volumes exported dropped by 9.1% and imports increased by 6% with respect to the same period in 2012. As regards volumes, the sign is positive for both imports and exports and the total balance is of €748 million (-14.2%).
Overall, Italian companies exported 3.32 million tonnes of produce between January and October 2013, for a total value of little over €3.33 billion (+5.7%).
Exports of vegetables and fresh fruit decreased (-1.5 and -13.5% respectively), whereas those of citrus fruit (+0.9%) and dried fruit (+7%) increased. In terms of volume, the sign is positive for all sectors: vegetables +13.4%, citrus fruit +30.6%, fresh fruit +0.4% and dried fruit +9.6%.

Talking about imports, Italy bought around 2.77 million tonnes of produce for a total value of €2.59 billion (+13.3%).
The imported volume of citrus fruit (+7%), vegetables (+3.9%), fresh fruit (+9.3%), tropical fruit (+6.6%) and dried fruit (+7.2%) increased. The sign concerning value is positive for all sectors too.
