According to Antoine Geysels of Top'Pom, the drought in Europe has created a favourable context for the potato market. "The amounts available on the European market will be limited, and therefore the demand will be fairly constant."

Top'Pom is a producer and marketer of potatoes for consumption. The company buys products in all production areas in France. Some 20 producers who represent an annual yield of about 40,000 tons produce exclusively for the structure. The overall volume marketed by Top'Pom is 80,000 tons per year.

"We mainly work with French packers at the moment, because there is not much demand in export. We’re just starting in Italy, but it's trivial considering they still have their national production. Besides, their prices are a little more competitive than ours. We will have to wait a little while."

It’s sure the demand will come. "Countries like Belgium, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, England, and France itself will all have a limited harvest and quality problems."

Sustained sizes
Top'Pom is located in Champagne-Ardenne (Grand Est). Drought and very cool climatic conditions during the growing season did not have a significant impact on sizes. "We will have fairly consistent and homogeneous sizes In Champagne."
90% of Top'Pom potatoes are of the Agata variety. "In terms of yield, viability, and overall quality, it is the best in our area. Beyond that, we offer varieties like Caesar, Monalisa, Marabel, Orchestra, Taisiya, Mozart, Manitou and firm pulp varieties such as Rudolph for the Spanish market."

The top selling countries for Top'Pom are France, Spain, Italy, England, Portugal and the region of Eastern Europe.
