Myanmar's Trade Department recently announced that imports of frozen pork from China would be suspended. The statement said that in view of the current African swine fever in China, the Ministry of Commerce decided to suspend imports of pork from China in accordance with the instructions of the meeting of the Management Committee of the Ministry of Commerce on November 22.

Since the early August, the outbreak of African swine fever in China began to spread rapidly. By September 1st, more than 40 thousand pigs had been cleared. The food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations warned that the epidemic could also spread to other countries. In order to avoid the introduction of African swine fever into Myanmar, the director of the Department of Aquaculture and Rescue said that disease detection should be carried out in advance in the border areas of the two countries.
