B&C Lifestyle established itself in the Netherlands a decade ago. The company is a strategic partner of Chinese Shenzhou Ginger Cellar Agriculture Group. It started with the import of Chinese home textile and the export of milk powder, but in recent years it has focused on importing ginger and Asian fruits. That was a good move. The importer has taken a new warehouse with state of art technologies into operation, which is primarily used for drying and storage of ginger and fruits.

The new 4,000 m2 warehouse sits on a 6,000 m2 piece of land. "We used to get someone else to dry our ginger. Now, with our own storage and drying facilities, we can keep an even closer eye on quality," says sales manager Paul Yin. "Our big advantage is that we have cultivation and a packing station in China. This storage location means we now control the whole chain. From growing, to packing, drying, storing, and exporting.”

"We also have separate cooling areas for fruits like Nashi pears and Pomelos,” Paul adds. “So, we can further expand our services. But ginger, our true specialty, will always be our main product." B&C Lifestyle's customers are mostly European wholesalers.

"The ginger market is good at the moment. There’s not much ginger available, not only from China but Peru and Brazil too. Prices are beginning to climb. We get weekly containers, despite the logistical challenges. We’re currently heading towards the end of the Chinese season, but the quality’s still good." Paul concludes.
