On March 11 reported that the European Commission recently listed the Ecuadorian National Authority for Health Regulation, Control and Supervision (Arcsa) and its laboratories as competent entities. With the authorization of the European Commission, Arcsa can issue "VI-1" certificate to Ecuadorian Wine Company from this month to export wines to the European Union. This will help Ecuador diversify its exports to the EU.

In January 2018, Ecuador entered into force its trade agreement with the European Union, giving Ecuador tariff preferences for its exports to the European Union. Ecuador's total exports to the EU in 2018 amounted to US$3.258 billion (US$3.255 billion of which were non-petroleum products), accounting for 19.6% of Ecuador's total exports.

Ecuador's Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Proecuador) said that Ecuador's export of wine to Spain, Italy and the United States had a good prospect.
