Ecuador Express reported on December 18 that President Idalgo of the Ecuador- ChinaChamber of Commerce was one of the entrepreneurs accompanied by President Moreno's delegation to China. Recently, in an interview with the media, he introduced the economic and trade achievements of President Moreno's visit to China.

Idalgo said that President Moreno's visit to China has achieved positive results in the field of economy and trade. The Ecuador delegation exchanged views with the Chinese Customs on banana tariffs, shrimp naming and other issues of concern to the Ecuador side. Ecuador shrimp is considered to be a prawn in China because of its size. As a result, Ecuadorian side can not enjoy the tariff preference recently applied to prawns from 5% to 2%. Ecuador also expressed concern about the inspection and Quarantine of pitaya fruits and dairy products transported to China. He said that the two sides have made important progress on the issue of Pitaya exporting to China, and China would send a technical team to Ecuador soon. By 2020, China's per capita fruit consumption will reach 60 kg, of which 60% will come from imports. China will be an important market for Ecuador fruit export. In the next four to five years, the proportion of Ecuador exports to China will increase significantly.
