"The production volume of fresh pears fell by 1/3 last year because many pear orchards suffered from extreme weather conditions when the pear trees were in bloom. The overall supply volume naturally declined as well, in particular because the volume of pears suitable for commerce declined. The price greatly increased as a result." This is according to director Han Xiang, of Xinji City Xiangnong Fruit Co., Ltd.

"We have 80 hectares of pear orchards in Hebei, the main pear production area in China. Our orchards are managed in cooperation. We produce a wide variety of pears, but the main varieties include Crown pears, Ya pears, Sweet pears, Zaosu pears, and Emerald pears. In this way we can guarantee year-round supply of pears. The retail conditions of Crown pears are currently much better than other pears. This is mainly because Crown pears are quite suitable for storage. They are also delicious and look beautiful."

"We will not expand our orchards in the upcoming production season, but the production volume will still increase. Some of the pear trees are already in bloom. We estimate that the new harvest season begins in early July."
