Glanbia Nutritionals has developed a new flax protein powder, LinPro 140, a allergen-free ingredient designed for use in bars, clusters, cereals and beverages.

LinPro 140 tackles health-promoting properties of natural flaxseed, while offering health benefits and nutritional value.

The flax ingredient comprises 32% fiber, beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant lignans as well as a low Glycemic Index. It offers a PDCAAS value of 0.68 and 38-40% protein content and is vegetarian and GMO-free.

With clean flavor profile and non-gritty mouthfeel, LinPro 140 offers soft texture in bars throughout their shelf life with appealing organaleptic properties.

It is heated with Glanbia Nutritionals' patented MicroSure Plus 5-log kill process and the validated treatment process is designed to provide safe flaxseed with a stable shelf life of two years.

Glanbia Nutritionals flax business development manager Marilyn Stieve said, "LinPro 140 offers all the nutritional value of flax in a completely natural product that meets manufacturer demand for high quality protein, fiber and omega-3s, as well as maintaining the desired sensory properties.

"Our flax protein powder fraction is concentrated through mechanical, rather than chemical, processes and is non-GMO and hormone-free, making LinPro 140 even more appealing to the health-conscious consumer."

Initially the product is being launched in the US, with expansion plans to Europe in the coming months.
