WACKER will globally increase the prices of food-grade polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) by an average 12 percent. The price increase will be effective immediately or as otherwise allowed by individual contract terms. Despite continued efforts to optimize cost structures and productivity, persistently rising energy and raw material costs make this step inevitable. The price increase will ensure WACKER’s high standards for product quality, product safety and product service.

“Constantly rising costs, in particular of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), make a global price increase necessary. This step ensures that our customers will continue to receive high-quality products and the highest level of customized service and technical support available. At the same time, it will allow us to continue providing innovative solutions for the chewing gum industry”, states Christian Hauk, Business Director for Gum. The price increase further strengthens WACKER’s leading position in the chewing gum industry after the recent investment in a new PVAc plant in Nanjing, China.

WACKER is a leading supplier of solid PVAc resins for over 50 years now. The products are marketed under the VINNAPAS and the recently introduced CAPIVA trade names to the chewing gum industry. WACKER’s solid resins are a key ingredient for the production of modern types of gum base, the water insoluble part of chewing gum which acts as the carrier for sweeteners and flavors.
