PepsiCo, Inc. has extended for two years an agreement related to Senomyx, Inc.’s sweet taste technology, Senomyx said May 19. A four-year agreement was set to end this August, but now the agreement will run through August 2016.

PepsiCo will continue to have exclusive worldwide rights to Senomyx sweet flavor ingredients developed under the collaboration for use in non-alcoholic beverages. Senomyx will continue to receive research funding and will remain eligible for milestone payments based upon achieving predetermined goals, as well as royalty payments.

San Diego-based Senomyx uses proprietary technologies to discover, develop and commercialize flavor ingredients for the food, beverage and flavor industries. In April, Senomyx and PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y., entered a collaborative agreement related to a Senomyx salt reduction program.
