Sensient Technologies, a colors, flavors and fragrances manufacturer based in US, plans to set up a new color and flavor facility in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The new facility will feature a research, development and manufacturing area with dedicated facilities for both colors and flavors.

This expansion is expected to accommodate greater growth in colors and flavors for foods and beverages in South Africa and strengthen Sensient's footprint within the African marketplace. The facility will also improve Sensient's capability to serve the pharmaceutical market for colors and coatings.

Sensient Technologies president and chief operating officer Paul Manning said the customers are seeking a local commercial and technical service, with quick and flexible manufacturing, and product availability.

"With this investment, we can ensure that our customers have shorter lead times, better logistics and more convenient technical service," Manning said.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sensient uses advanced technologies at facilities around the world to develop specialty food and beverage systems.
