US-based Specialty Process Engineering Company (SPEC) has completed the startup phase of Ridgeland Fiber’s new ingredient manufacturing facility in the US.

Ridgeland Fibers is a division of Sweetener Supply, which is a manufacturer and distributor of ingredients to the food, beverage and confectionery industries. Sweetener Supply brands include Sur Sweet Invert Syrups, Ambersweet liquid Sucrose, and UltraClear Cordial Grade.

SPEC signed on to the project at inception and provided design engineering, planning, custom equipment manufacturing, electrical and controls integration and complete system installation as well as complete design-build services.

The new facility features grinding, blending, and packaging capabilities. It was designed to meet GFSI, SQF FSSC 22000, ISO22000 and BRC food safety design and specifications.

According to SPEC, 18 month project consisted of complete build out from site selection through site development, in-plant improvements, utility upgrades, equipment supply specification and implementation through start-up and commissioning.
