Roka AtlasMinnesota Valley Testing Laboratories (MVTL) has deployed Roka Bioscience's Atlas System along with the Atlas Listeria detection assay and the Atlas Salmonella detection assay, which received AOAC Performance TestedSM certification.

MVTL intends to use the Atlas System for molecular pathogen detection of Salmonella and Listeria in food, environmental, food ingredient, and finished product samples.

MVTL chief executive officer Thomas Berg said the Atlas System gives the company major improvements in both data quality and turnaround time for our clients.

"The Atlas System also offers efficiencies through automation. These are key components in our efforts to control costs," Berg added.

Atlas System is a fully automated molecular instrument for the detection of pathogens in food and environmental samples. It utilizes a three-step procedure - Enrich, Transfer, Automate and is capable of processing over 300 samples in 8 hours.

Roka Bioscience stated that the system's continuous workflow and throughput provides efficiency, flexibility, and scalability to meet the increasing demands on food safety laboratories.

Roka Bioscience president and chief executive officer Paul Thomas said, "The accuracy, speed, and flexibility of the Atlas System, as well as its ease of use, make it an ideal value-added solution."

MVTL provides a wide range of services to business and federal, state, and local government in areas of food, agribusiness, environmental monitoring, pollution control, regulatory compliance monitoring, and industrial process control.

Roka Bioscience, headquartered in San Diego, California, US, is involved in the development and commercialization of molecular assays and portable diagnostic instruments for bio-pharmaceutical production, water and food safety testing, and various industrial applications.
