JBT FoodTech, an American food processing machinery provider owned by JBT, has announced that it has signed a rotary sterilization technology contract worth $5m with a North American food processing firm.

Under the deal, JBT will supply and install two rotary sterilizer lines and an automatic batch retort system to process vegetable products in cans and pouches.

JBT FoodTech Food Processing Systems Division vice president and general manager Steve Smith said that the project is an example of how the company continues to increase the installed base of retort systems for the pouch market segment.

The project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2013.

JBT designs, manufactures, tests and services technological advanced systems and products for industrial food processing customers through its JBT FoodTech segment and JBT AeroTech segment. It operates in about 25 countries globally.
