The new software offers automatic ordering and tracking of waste. It can measure recipe and menu costs, purchasing and ordering, inventory control, sales analysis and menu engineering, production management, requisitions and transfers and nutritional analysis, reported Boulder County Business Report.

Culinary Software Services operations manager Catherine Buresh said that waste tracking increases profit margins without affecting the customers' dining experience.

"Less landfill and greener working practices lead to a more environmentally friendly operation," Buresh added.

The software costs $595 for the module but must be used as a part of a software package that costs about $3,000.
