Nearly 703 thousand Lev (359,449 Euro) have been granted to Bulgarian producers affected by the Russian ban on agricultural imports from the European Union, as reported by official sources.

The funds have been provided entirely by the European Fund for Agricultural Guarantee; they have been paid through two schemes introduced by the European Commission late last year.

Producers that have received the funds are based in the regions of Blagoevgrad, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Haskovo and Shumen.

The money has served to fund the production of nearly four thousand tonnes of mushrooms, tomatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, gherkins, cucumbers, pears, carrots, nectarines, peaches, peppers, plums and apples.
