Redberry Investments, a Quebec-based master franchisee, plans to acquire 32 restaurants in Ontario from American Burger King franchisee Heartland Food for $20m.

Redberry Investments presently represents around 300 Burger King restaurants in Canada. The addition of 32 outlets will increase the Redberry Investments' Burger King existing staff to 3,860 in Canada.

This move follows Redberry's recent acquisition of Burger King Restaurants of Canada from Burger King Worldwide in April 2013.

Redberry Investments general manager Christian LeBrun said the company has increased its number of restaurants by 970% since launching in 2005, positioning the company as an important player in Canada's foodservice industry.

"Future investments planned by the company in the coming years will total more than $90 million," LeBrun added.

Redberry is also looking to expand the Burger King in Canada by opening new outlets, introducing new menu options and remodeling strategy.
