Frozen food giant Iglo Group, Feltham, UK, has withdrawn packages of Chili Con Carne with rice from sale in the Netherlands after it was found to contain small amounts of horsemeat.

The frozen dinner is produced by Frigilunch, Veurne, Belgium, and turned out to contain two percent horsemeat, the company said. Iglo had earlier ordered an investigation into all its meat-based products, saying, "While this is not a food safety issue, it is clearly unacceptable."

Iglo has carried out 69 tests on its products since the horse meat scandal broke. The Chili Con Carne package is the only one thus far found to be contaminated. But just to be on the safe side, it has recalled 14 other beef products sourced from Frigilunch, and won't bring them back until or unless a full investigation clears them.

Iglo describes itself as Europe's leading frozen food company. Its brands include Birds Eye, Iglo and Findus (in Italy only). It is owned by Permira, a private equity group, which has been trying without success in recent months to sell it.
