SPAR has celeSPARbrated the launch of its new Indian and Oriental food range with a curry night for 200 RAF troops on 12 August.

In an evening of fun celebrations at SPAR Brize Norton, SPAR UK will launch its 17-strong new range of Indian and Oriental foods – projected to be worth £3.4 million in sales.

The range consists of 17 lines including ready meals, accompaniments and stir fry, with six new lines including four new ready meals; SPAR Chicken Jalfrezi with rice 450g; SPAR Lamb Rogan Josh with rice 450g; SPAR Thai green chicken curry with rice 450g; SPAR Chicken in Blackbean with rice 450g and two new stir fry sauces; SPAR Sweet chilli stir fry sauce 180g; SPAR Chinese stir fry sauce 180g.

The range, which will be launched in stores on 18 September, will be featured on TV from 13th-26th October as part of SPAR’s national media campaign.

During this time, the SPAR Indian and Oriental ready meals will be on a special promotion at two for £4 and SPAR four Onion bhajis and SPAR four Vegetable spring rolls will be on offer for only £1.

As one the four transformational strategies within SPAR’s Growing Together plan, the symbol group is making massive investments in own label, Susan Darbyshire, SPAR UK Brand Director said:

“Our consumer needs are changing, food trends are changing and people want good quality products at good prices more than ever before.

“This range has been repackaged in a strong, recognizable design, with great standout on shelf. It will also be supported with significant marketing activity, including the TV campaign.

“SPAR is committed to creating a fantastic, profitable own brand range for retailers that is relevant to customer needs locally offers excellent quality and prices,” she said. “

In 2011, SPAR expanded its contract with ISS Facility Services to supply a further 17 stores at 14 RAF bases across the UK.

Brize Norton, in Oxfordshire, is the main RAF Air Terminal where servicemen and women from the armed forces arrive and depart the UK.

Inside the Airport Terminal Building, RAF employees and their families can find two SPAR stores, offering a wide range of products
