Local fruit company OOB Organic has claimed a New Zealand first with the launch of the only frozen banana product. In a busier-than-ever society where convenience foods that don’t compromise on taste and nutritional value are at the top of the shopping list, new OOB Organic Sliced Bananas give shoppers the opportunity to enjoy certified organic bananas in a portion-controlled way.

OOB Organic Sales and Marketing Manager, Erik Tams says, “We know bananas are Kiwis favourite fruit so we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy bananas in a frozen format all year round.”

“One of the most important factors for us was that we were bringing a high quality product into the market with no nasties – our product is literally picked, peeled, sliced and snap-frozen. That’s it!” adds Tams.

With 42% of a banana being skin, consumers are able to get more value out of frozen bananas. The snap-frozen technique ensures the high quality nature of the product remains without the texture or colour of the banana changing.

“While smoothies are the most popular use for frozen fruit, Sliced Bananas can be used in anything from baking to cooking or a snack. The ability to portion control how much you need prevents unnecessary wastage, especially when 18 million bananas are being thrown out yearly*,” says Tams.

New OOB Organic Sliced Bananas are sourced from a free-trade supplier. The fruity delight can be found in the frozen aisle of New World and PakNSave supermarkets nationwide.
