As previously announced by several sources, including Taiwan’s Department of Health, Taiwan recently amended its food safety law amidst various food safety concerns. On June 25, 2013, Taiwan officially notified the WTO of its amended food safety law, the Act Governing Food Sanitation (available in Chinese). The law was enacted on June 19, 2013 and entered into force on June 21, 2013. The amended law includes tougher penalties for violations of food safety regulations, including food additive use standards.

Taiwan’s food additive use regulations are included in the International Food Additive Database.
