As reported by Freshfel, intra-EU fruit and vegetable trade over the past year has amounted to 29.053 million tonnes. Of this, approximately 12.071 million tonnes corresponded to vegetables and another 16.981 million tonnes to fruit.

In the first place among the largest importers of fruit and vegetables is Germany, with a total of 6.9 million tonnes in 2014. In second place we have France, with 3.6 million tonnes, followed in third place by the United Kingdom, with 3.1 million tonnes.

As regards exports, Spain leads the ranking with 10.892 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables, including 4.5 million tonnes of vegetables and 6.4 million tonnes of fruit. In second place was to the Netherlands, with a total of 5.4 million tonnes, followed by Italy, with 2.9 million tonnes, Belgium, with 2.8 million tonnes and France, with 2.0 million tonnes.
