The news site Lebanon Files reports that 128 containers with Lebanese potatoes have been stopped in Port Said, Egypt, and that a portion of these containers have already been returned to Lebanon under the pretext of overloading. More than 60 trucks have been left parked at the port of Beirut.

The sources contacted by Lebanon Files confirm that the shipments intended for Arab Gulf states and stalled in Beirut and Egypt weigh around 4,000 tonnes and their price has been estimated at about a quarter of a million U.S. dollars.

They stress that the Lebanese farms had increased the volume of the shipments to compensate for the losses caused by the high cost of production and the price issues resulting from the recent closure of the border.
