Italian and Greek apples currently dominate the Egyptian market. According to official data supplied by Egyptian authorities for the first 7 months of 2015, Italy shipped apples worth 93.8 million Euro, thereby reaching a 48.26% share of the Egyptian market, while Greece exported apples worth 19 million Euro during the same period, reaching 9.8% of the market share.

In global terms, Egypt's total apple imports in 2015 are expected to show a slight decline compared to 2014. The varieties imported by Egypt are mainly Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Royal Gala, with Greece supplying mostly the Red Delicious.
