On Wednesday 28 October, coinciding with the start of the fair Fruit Attraction, a delegation of about 40 people formed by importers, representatives of the Vegetables and Fruits Wholesale Market and government representatives of the People's Republic of China, namely from the region of Guangzhou, will visit the fair and will be received by representatives of APOEXPA, as well as by various Spanish officials, including the President of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Pedro Antonio Sánchez López; the Secretary of State for Trade of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Jaime García Legaz-Ponce; the General Secretary of Agriculture and Food of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Carlos Cabanas Godino, and by other senior officials of the Ministry and the ICEX.

The visit is taking place at a time when the approval of the protocol for the export of Spanish stonefruit to the PRC seems imminent and will be a chance for importers to learn more about Spain and Murcia's productive potential for stonefruit and table grapes.

Once the above protocol is approved, Spain will become the first country in the world authorised to export peaches, nectarines and flat peaches to China.

The Guangzhou region is the gateway to 70% of China's horticultural imports. Its proximity to Hong Kong strengthens its position as the main distribution centre of imported fruits.

The Association of Producers and Exporters of stonefruit, table grapes and other agricultural products of the Region of Murcia, APOEXPA, will once again take part in Fruit Attraction, the international fruit and vegetable fair organised by IFEMA and FEPEX in Madrid.
