On July 26, 2013, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published a notice in its Notification Circular which calls for submissions on the use of quillaja extract as a food additive in various beverages. The final date for comments is September 6, 2013.

In this same Notification Circular, FSANZ published a new application to include sodium hydrosulphite as a food additive for processing canned abalone.

Any amendments to Australia and New Zealand's food additive use regulations will be included in the International Food Additive Database once they are established and in effect.
