During a visit to a fruit farm in Uleńcu, in the Polish province of Mazowieckie, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Janusz Piechociński, emphasised that Poland remains the world's leading apple exporter, ahead of China, and that Polish agriculture has achieved great success in gaining new markets.

Initially, the introduction of the Russian embargo had a big impact on the market, which reacted with considerable price drops," said the head of the PSL. "We are proud to say that the situation, however, has improved considerably, with prices in the apple industry going from 0.10 zloty per kilo to the current 0.50 zloty," said Piechociński.

He stressed that the most important aspect for apple growers has been the opening of several new markets. "From 10 October, Polish apple imports have been allowed in Vietnam. The fruit has so far been admitted also in India, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and will soon be shipped also to Iran, Canada, and the United States," stated Piechociński.

He wished to issue a special thanks to fruit growers, including associations and organizations. He also thanked the Polish embassies and the departments of investment promotion and international cooperation, thanks to which Polish apples have found new buyers.
