World Vegan Day is observed on November 1 across the world. Veganism is a growing trend around the world and a lot of Indians too are embracing the trend for various reasons. The niche category is exhibiting a growth of more than 50-60% year-on-year. But most vegans find it difficult to get the right products that conform to their principles as supermarkets in India do not stock vegan products on a regular basis.

However, Godrej Nature’s Basket, a destination for fine foods from across the world, has a wide range of vegan products including soymilk, tofu, peanut butter, coconut milk & cream, an extensive range of seeds, a rich assortment in nuts such as pecan, almonds, flavoured peanut range, alternate to natural sugar such as maple syrup and many more. That’s not all, the store also stocks not very commonly found vegan products like dairy-free ice cream, milk-free yogurt, milk-free cheese and vegan snacks like Balinese Bean Bites, Beet & Walnut Bites, Mushroom & Eggplant Bites and Pumpkin & Spinach Bites.

Some interesting trends in veganism: Soy milk, tofu and peanut butter are the most frequently bought; · There is a greater demand for vegan products in Bangalore and Hyderabad, perhaps owing to the fact that the south Indian diet leans towards veganism; · Vegans look for sources of plant- based nutrition from seeds, flax seeds are the most popular while sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds follow; · There has been a jump in the demand for coconut milk as well; and · Some products that are witnessing growing interest are dairy-free milk, ice cream and cheese.
