Lidl has passed Aldi tLidl o become the largest discounter in The Netherlands, according to Nielsen data. The research firm reports that Lidl increased its market share in 2013 from 7.5% to 9%. The increase means that Lidl may have added €500 million in revenue in one year.

Lidl also may be gaining market share in Spain. The discounter aims to invest €180 million this year to open 20 stores while also upgrading 50 others. Lidl will open a new logistic centre in Murcia as part of the investment plan. Lidl now has 525 stores and eight logistic centres in Spain.
