Budget food chain Lidl wins quality award with Deluxe range

The retailer wLidl on Own Brand Range of the Year for its Deluxe selection at the 2014 Oracle Retail Week Awards.

Judges said the range, which ­includes Three Fish Roast (£5.69 for 850g), Lobster (£5.99/ 350g) and Fennel Salami (£1.99/ 120g) successfully offered low-price, high-quality food. Lidl’s UK managing director Ronny Gottschlich said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this coveted title. In 2013 Deluxe saw its most successful year ever with a record 217 lines.”

Chris Brook-Carter, the editor-in-chief of Retail Week, said: “Lidl and all the winners represent the new elite of UK retail.”
