Marine Harvest introduceMarine Harvestd a line of fresh salmon entrees under its Rebel Fish brand.

The salmon is packaged a skin pack to preserve freshness and includes a seasoning rub packet to be used prior to cooking. The product could be cooked in a variety of ways, including in the microwave.

“We did a lot of consumer testing and found that more than 50 percent of them were cooking it in the microwave,” Linda Rank, Marine Harvest director of marketing and new product development, told SeafoodSource. “It’s so simple. I’ve been in this business for 12 years and never thought to cook salmon in the microwave, but the response we’re getting is amazing. People are saying ‘my husband loved this’, ‘my kids loved this’.”

The line is available in six varieties, Lemon Pepper Herb, Barbeque, Cilantro Lime, Mesquite Smoked Sea Salt, Cajun Blackened and Thai Chili.

The Rebel Fish salmon line will be introduced at Seafood Expo North America 16 to 18 March in Boston.
