The United Fresh Produce Association is accepting nominations for its annual retail produce manager awards program, which honors 25 managers at the organization’s June 10-13 convention in Chicago.

Nomination forms and more information on the contest, sponsored by Ready Pac Foods Inc., are online. The deadline for nominations is Feb. 28.
The award winners and their corporate produce directors will receive free airfare, hotel and registrations for United Fresh 2014. The Produce Celebration Gala set for June 11 will honor the group, and five grand prize winners of an added $1,000 will be announced.

This is the 10th year for the award program, which has recognized 200 produce managers from 70 retail banners since its inception. Criteria include commitment to customer satisfaction, innovative merchandising, produce-related community outreach, and company peer recognition.

“This program is an incredible opportunity for retailers everywhere to put forth their top produce managers as a chance for them to be recognized as leaders in their field,” Randy Scott, category manager of produce for Delhaize America and chairman of United Fresh’s retail-foodservice board, said in a news release.

“It has been amazing to see the growth of this program and the positive impact it has had, not only on the winners, but on their companies, and the broader retail and produce industries,” Victoria Backer, United Fresh senior vice president of member services, said in the release.
