The Association of Exporters (ADEX) reported that agricultural and agro-industrial added value exports increased by 7.3 percent between January and October this year. These exports amounted to 2.544 million dollars, thanks to the higher shipments of asparagus (22.1 percent), avocados (33.9 percent), grapes (1.7 percent), mangoes (2.8 percent), bananas, artichokes, tangerines, paprika and onion, among others.

Agricultural exports, which totalled 3.149 million dollars, were down 3.2 percent compared to the same period in 2012.

"While non-traditional agro shipments grew, traditional shipments didn't, they only amounted to 605.1 million dollars," noted Adex.

According to the exporting guild, there were 144 destinations for all of the agricultural exports.

The United States, accounting for 27.8 percent of total shipments, was the main destination with 876.3 million dollars and a 1.8 percent growth.

The most demanded products were asparagus, coffee, avocados, artichokes, mangoes, and quinoa.

The Netherlands was the second most important destination with 349.1 million dollars. The country increased its demand by 15.4 percent and mainly imported avocados, bananas, asparagus, mangoes, grapes, passion fruit juice, etc. .

Following are Germany, Spain, Ecuador, UK, Colombia, Belgium, Chile, France, China, Canada, Haiti, Bolivia, Japan, Brazil, Italy, Hong Kong, Russia, Mexico, South Korea, Sweden, Venezuela and Australia, among others.
