According to the Government, supermarket sales in Argentina grew by 18.4 percent, year on year, in October at seasonally adjusted constant prices.

The report from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) also stated that sales were up by 2.7 percent from September, also on seasonally adjusted prices.

Sales at current prices, which reflect the impact of inflation in the country, estimated by private analysts to be at an annual 25 percent, grew by 27.4 percent, up to 11,555.6 million pesos (1,891.3 million dollars), in October when compared to the same period last year.

The supermarket survey includes information on 69 companies distributed throughout Argentina.

The INDEC also released the survey on mall sales, which, in October, grew 20.4 percent year on year at seasonally adjusted constant prices.

The shopping malls' turnover in October was 2,291.7 million pesos (375.1 million dollars), 32.7 percent more than in the same month in 2012. In the measurement at constant prices, sales rose 18.5 percent over September.

The official survey measures 36 shopping centres in Buenos Aires and in the urban belt around the city.
