Carrefour Romania announces the opening of its 25th Carrefour Hypermarket in the country, in the city of Galați and of a new supermarket, the 75th in the country, in the city of Bacău.

The new hypermarket, Carrefour Galați, is located on the George Coșbuc 251 Boulevard and has a selling area of around 7.500 m², in the newest commercial center in the city, Shopping City Galați, developed by NEPI.

All Carrefour Galați clients can participate at a special raffle through which, for each purchase made between November 21st and December 11th 2013, they receive a participating ticket that gives them the chance to win a Peugeot 301 automobile.

The Shopping City Galați commercial center is developed on an area of approximately 12 ha and, besides the Carrefour hypermarket, it has a gallery of 18.000 sqm, a shopping mall with commercial anchor type units and a food court.

The innovation at Carrefour Galați is represented by the modern refrigeration system that has a minimum impact on the environment. Without the classical installations, the new system reduces the CO2 emissions with over 900 tons per year. The heat generated by it is redirected towards the spaces adjoining the store, thus eliminating the necessity for other energy sources.

Also, the Carrefour Galați hypermarket LED illumination systems decreases the energy usage by 35%. The storage units have intelligent illumination systems that favor the usage of natural light during daytime.

Also on Thursday, November 21st, Carrefour group opens its 5th supermarket in the city of Bacău, Market Mărășești, thus raising the total number of stores in this format to 75.
