"The acquisition period of garlic from outside the warehouse is basically over. The last shipment will be issued before September 10th. After that, the cold storage garlic will be shipped. The current price is higher than the previous period. It has risen by about 2 cents. The price of garlic after entering the cold storage will be higher, mainly due to the cold storage fees and the increase in the cost of currency interest rates," according to Ms. Jenny of Laiwu Intop Import and Export Co., Ltd.

This week, Peru's garlic season began, but this new source of garlic supply has little impact on the Chinese market. China's garlic exports are still going on, and they can easily compete with foreign rivals. Jenny said: "In general, the competition in the Peruvian garlic market is not strong. Because this year's Chinese garlic has an advantage in price and the popularity of Chinese garlic in overseas markets is higher."

But it's not only the price that makes Chinese garlic more attractive worldwide, but a year-round supply is also an advantage. China's garlic storage technology is relatively mature so, even if Peruvian garlic has an impact on Chinese garlic, it is temporary.

"Our company is a comprehensive export-oriented enterprise with self-operated export rights and an annual production and processing capacity of over 10,000 tons. In addition to garlic, we also sell other fruits and vegetables, of which apple is also one of our main export products. The company will participate in the Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition in Hong Kong in early September. At that time, our team will look forward to visits from the industry in the J18F booth in Hall 3C."
