Crespo Organic Mangoes enters a new partnership with Earl’s Organic Produce for exclusive regional distribution of organic mangos. The region of distribution stretches as far north as Arcata, east to Reno and as far south as Monterey County.

“The mangos from this program are all grown in Mexico,” says Nissa Pierson with Crespo. The Crespo family started out growing chili peppers in the 1970s and branched into mangos. The company started with organic mangos about 10 years ago and grows round as well as yellow mango varieties.

Own packing house
Crespo controls the entire process as the company owns its own packing house, which is the second largest packing house for mangos in Mexico. “About 14 truckloads of mangos leave the packing house every day to distribute mangos across the US and Canada,” shared Pierson. The Mexican mango season runs from February until the end of August.

Consumer education
“Mangos continue to gain momentum nationally, catching up with the rest of the world as the most consumed fruit,” says Susan Simitz with Earl’s Organic Produce. “There is much more to this partnership than just selling mangos. We are sharing information on the farms and the Mexican people behind it. In addition, we are adding value by educating the customer on the product: everything from packing, to processing, storage, selection, varietals and general kitchen tips and tricks.” In-store and social media education as well as tastings, cutting demos and even mango cooking classes throughout the Bay Area are part of the program as well.

Earl’s Organic Produce is the leading certified organic distributor in the Bay Area, joining forces with over 100+ growers to bring diversity, flavor and superior quality to the marketplace.

“We are very excited about our ongoing partnership with Crespo Organic Mangoes, enabling us to offer high quality, flavor filled fruit at attractive pricing.  With the support of their marketing and educational efforts it’s looking to be a fantastic season,” says Christie Biddle, Fruit Buyer at Earl’s Organic Produce. With this program, Earl’s can continue to deliver its promise; bringing consumers closer to their food source.
