The overall price of sweet potatoes showed a downward trend last week. The sweet potatoes currently for sale in the Wanbang Market mainly come from Kaifeng, Henan, Hebei, and Guangdong. The majority coming from Kaifeng and Henan, with a smaller secondary supply from elsewhere.

The sweet potato price dropped last week in comparison with the week before. The main reason for this development was excessive supply from production areas. The supply gradually shifted to production areas in Kaifeng and Henan during the National Day holiday period. The amount of sweet potatoes from Guangdong diminished as the cost price of transport makes it difficult for Guangdong sweet potatoes to compete with local sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatoes from Kaifeng and Henan benefit from a low cost price of transport as their production areas are close to Wanbang Market. The price of sweet potatoes from Hebei was initially more than 1 yuan [0.15 USD], but that price is falling as local supply increases.
