he Greek company, Nikolitsas SA, pays special attention to the image of its products. Consequently, they are currently supplying apples that resemble the American prototype, with the same size and colour and presented with a layer of wax that improves their appearance. These apples, grown in the northern part of Greece, are also characterised by being especially tasty thanks to the area's microclimate.

Until about a year ago, Nikolitsas SA considered Egypt its main market; however, since the economy of this country has weakened, "we have set a foothold in other countries, with Israel being the most important, although we also ship apples to Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany," explains Thomas Moulas, import and export manager at Nikolitsas SA.

Furthermore, Moulas assures that this year's apples have not been affected by bad weather, as they were harvested in September and have been kept in cold storage. Thus, they have the same volume available as in previous years.
