An official in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed the desire of the Kingdom's traders to promote greater and continuous cooperation with Turkish companies, pointing out that imports of Turkish vegetables and fruits in the Saudi market are increasing steadily.

The head of the committee of fruit and vegetable traders in the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Suhaim bin Saeed al-Ghamdi, announced the arrival of the first batches of Turkish tomatoes to the market ahead of Ramadan, which contributed to the stability of prices after the rise observed earlier in the month.

Al-Ghamdi said that the market for vegetables and fruits in the Kingdom has stabilised after fluctuating prices as a result of the high demand before Ramadan. He pointed out that Saudi companies will receive 80 tonnes of tomatoes, which should contribute to the stability of prices in the market.

Al-Ghamdi also stressed the desire of Saudi traders to boost cooperation with Turkish companies, noting that the volume of imports of vegetables and fruits from Turkey is increasing steadily.

For his part, the Senior adviser of the Republic of Turkey's Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency, Dr Mustafa Goksu, advised to continue bilateral meetings with Saudi and Gulf fruit and vegetable traders.

He stressed the need to increase investments in vegetables and fruits, especially in light of the wide range of vegetables and fruits produced during the different seasons, which guarantees a stable supply of agricultural products in the markets, as well as quality and a competitive price compared to other markets.

Dr Goksu stressed the importance of exploring investment opportunities in the fruit and vegetable sector between the two countries, developing them, solving any obstacles and working to overcome them with the participation of various stakeholders. He pointed out that his country is making great efforts to facilitate the arrival of Turkish agricultural products to Saudi markets.
